Now THIS is Playtime!
I am an expert in coming up with games my kids can play with me that also somehow allow me to rest a little. Like when we play “doctors” and I’m the “patient” and all I do is lay in bed comatose while they type on my computer pretending to take down my info, and then give me tons of shots. They love it, and I’m half asleep!
Or this game: Daddy Makeover.
This started when Mathea was very young. I would ask her to give me a haircut, and she would get all her little pretend tools out, cover me in a blanket, and play with my hair for an hour. Amazing. I love this game.
A couple weeks ago we played it. Half way through I decided that she should be allowed to use some real “product.” So I told her to get my gel. This was so much fun! She likes to make my hair really flat, and then push the front all to one side. Hideous!
And then I had another idea…
I told Thea to get her play makeup. That’s right. Go Time.
So she added a TON of lipgloss (much like she does for herself), lots of really gooey blush, some purple eye shadow, some clips in my hair . . . well you get the idea. So here’s what we ended up with:
Yeah, I know. Amazing. You can stop lusting now.
And here is me with my beautiful make up artist:
Oh man, we had so much fun. What a wonderful little girl. And boy does she love her daddy!

HAHAH I looked at pictures before I read and I thought the first picture was a “before” and felt really let down that you didn’t treat us to the “after.” I guess you ALWAYS look made up to me!
ha!I wonder how differently people would treat me if that was my NORMAL look!
You know, Lyric does this with me too, sometimes. And I’ve always wanted to have a character in a script who’s in the middle of doing this with his daughter and then he gets called into a crime or something important – no time to clean up! And it’s this recurring joke that people look at him with his hair in whale spouts and his face made up and wonder what in the world is going on.
That’s an awesome idea. And it could include being dressed in mom’s clothes too! (I swear I’ve never done that!)
Hmmm…. what kind of movie do you think I want to write, anyway?
SO cute!!!!!! you are such a good dad!!!!
My kids make it easy!
Okay this–
“They love it, and I’m half asleep!”
and this–
“She likes to make my hair really flat, and then push the front all to one side. Hideous!”
made me laugh out loud!
And then I saw the pictures and Oh boy. Good stuff, Christian (or I should say, Thea!!!).
I remember doing that stuff to my brothers, but never to pop–maybe because he had no hair to put in whale spouts??? And the beard kinda gets in the way of gooey blush, as you put it!
Haha – yeah pop had some built in defenses! But I wish I had pictures of you doing that to your brothers!
there is a picture of Jonathan dressed up and made up like a girl somewhere…if I find it, I’ll show it to you, promise:)
Pffffffffffffffffffffffff!! Aw man, you can’t tell there’s eyeshadow on… next time, you better take some quality pictures.
I know!! I took several other pictures, but I just could not get the eye shadow to show up. I don’t know why!
What a fun…and accommodating…dad you are! Good times! Mathea is such a cutie!
She is so cute, I agree! And so creative!
