Power outage

Posted on 2009 08, 09 by christian

Tonight we lost power for several hours. There are many things I don’t like about losing power. For one, as a kid it always terrified me, and even now as an adult it still unnerves me. It makes me feel on edge and less safe.

But most of all I hate that it knocks out my Internet. Evwrytime we lose power I have to go through this laborious process of resetting my modem. I don’t know why it won’t just turn back on and work like the lights, but it doesn’t.

So now I’m annoyed because I brought my laptop upstairs to write this and I can’t connect! Do I go downstairs when I’m all comfy in bed and fight with the modem? Or do I slowly type my blog on my phone. Such a lazy dilemma!!

I’m typing on my phone. The funny thing about typing on your phone is when you finish and look online your post is so much shorter than you thought! You feel like you’ve just typed a huge novel and really it’s less than 100 words! It just feels longer bcause every single word is a study in finger dexterity and patience. I hav found that the blog is officially finished when I get tired of endlessly backspacing to correct words. Like just there (no lie!) I tried to type correct and first got “coeert” and then on second effort it auto-corrected to “forest!!!”

Arg. The time has come. A frustrated blogger signs off In hopes of happier blogging tomorrow.

Keeping God at the Center

I just spoke with a 16 year old tonight about questions and fears she has about dating.  As we spoke, it just renewed my passion for Christians having a voice in this vital discussion.  Too often Christians (I feel) are either silent, or overly negative, when it comes to the issue of dating.  And both of these are useless to teens and young adults struggling with questions in this area.

This is a real issue, and young people have valid questions about dating.  My conviction is that Christians need to engage more fully in this discussion, and offer more than the normal quick answers about danger and sin.  In Finding the One and on this blog, I’m hoping to create a healthy place to have an honest discussion about dating and being a follower of Jesus.

As we talked, it was so cool to see this young girl truly seeking to keep God at the center.  And it struck me how profound that is.  We can all learn a lesson from that—if we keep our relationships centered and revolving around Jesus, we will greatly increase our likelihood for success.
